Wow, it's been a while...

Hope that the holidays were lovely from coast to coast. I went pretty much straight from final exams and papers to visitors and stomach flu, hence the lack of any contact with the great wide world. Starting to emerge from madness- contemplating attempting a phone call or two, but not going to rush into anything...

Candy Canes

I bought a lot of them today. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Can't wait to get the damn tree inside. I really miss the smell and there's only so long you can justify having a fresh smelling tree in your livingroom, especially with NY real estate being what it is...

Just realized that at some point I need to figure out where the heck everyone is going to fit for the holidays. The apartments/sleeping arrangements are taken care of, but there's no way 15 people can eat at our kitchen table, even if we had more than 8 chairs... I just wish we could knock out the wall in between the kitchen and the living room. I've been wishing that for a while, but there's something about the landlord not wanting to loose a breaing wall or something. Details...

Have 8 thousand hours worth of homework for this weekend and then a single test on monday and I'm done with the semester. YAAAAAYYYYYYY!

To start said homework, I will go to bed immediately.

So pukey I could cry...

It's so damn hard to get my work done when I just want to puke and cry all the time...

We got the most amazing VAN LOAD of baby gear from the awesome Jennifer Parsons and Nate Chura. So good to see them and their little Emmerson, who is now so BIG! I feel so lucky to have so many friends with kids to offer advice/support and let us help them empty out their storage space!

*The kid's got a face!

But whose nose...?!

So excited about these! I'm not sure if it was worth the recovery from the exam, but these are definitely the best pictures of Parker I've seen yet!

Starting to get nervous about finishing all my work by the end of the semester. Pregnancy brain still in full effect; I even managed to lose one of the books I'm supposed to be writing a paper on. Library, here I come!

*2nd picture!

The doctor kept saying what great pictures they were and that the baby was looking straight at us. I think she's a little crazy, but what are you going to do...

First trimester screening tomorrow where I'm supposed to be able to see much more clearly, but I don't know if I'm allowed to take any copies home. Keep your fingers crossed!

Dance, Baby, Dance!

Had a nice trip to the obstetrician yesterday with Lance. We both got to see the baby dance! Legs and arms waving all over the place! I'll post the new pictures as soon as Lance brings them home.

Otherwise things are good. Got a paper and my last midterm back. Miraculously I got A's instead of the B's & C's I was expecting. Let's hear it for curves... Only three weeks of class left to catch-up on homework. Wish me luck!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Yes, Rozo did in fact draw her turkey herself... After outlining her paw, I held the pens while she chewed on them. She even picked out the colors herself. What a dog!

Home Sick, AGAIN

I am sick of being sick! Yesterday all my teachers kept asking me why I even came to school, but grades are partially based on attendance and Parker's already made me miss too much! I feel like I have to go whenever I can. Live and learn I guess; I'm paying for it today... At least I got to drive through the first snow! It didn't make it to Brooklyn as more than rain, but since I was driving north I got it!

Lance's family sent an awesome baby welcome package that we got yesterday. THANK YOU! I'll put a picture up soon with Lance and I modelling our new parent/maternity clothes and displaying the GORGEOUS art and the world's softest baby blanket.

Really looking forward to getting out of town and seeing the family for thanksgiving. Hope to God this cold leaves soon.

Scheduled my first trimester screening for Dec 4. Can't wait to see what Parker's up to!

Lance is the best

Lance brought home some of the most beautiful flowers yesterday.

These pink ones smell AMAZING, and then there are some great blue ones and white ones in other rooms. He's really doing an amazing job of this whole flowers-every-week-of-07 christmas present. I just realized the year is almost up! I guess I'm gonna have to do it for him in 08, now that I've gotten used to fresh flowers in the house all the time! I really am the luckiest girl in the world.

Grumpy Dwarf

Also Mopey, Sneezy and Dopey. Had a horrific, writhing night of headaches, nausea, and coughing. Made Lance go on a banana run at 2am and a donut run at 6am. Poor guy. Just got up and made a smoothie to have with dried apricots- hopefully I'll keep all that down. Gonna try to get some homework done before I fall back asleep, or the headache makes it so I can't read anymore. Aaaahhh, the joys of pregnancy (or being Preggers, as Lance likes to say).

Registered...

Got my class schedule in for spring. 4 classes with a big break in the middle of the day. I wanted to do 5, but A) I would need "overload" approval from my advisor and B) Lance pointed out that that would be CRAZY to do while pregnant... Damn it. Doesn't this baby know I'm wonder woman?!

Speaking of, I'm coming down with a cold and I'm doubtful as to whether I'm even going to class tomorrow feeling this crapy. I guess we'll just see what a good night's sleep can do...

Not much new to report...

Acid reflux in full effect- yahoo! Apparently this will last for the rest of the pregnancy. AWESOME. Still sleepy all the time- managed to sleep through my alarm and miss all of my morning appointments. Broadway strike still on, so I don't think we'll be going to the theatre with Tim tomorrow night after all. That's a bummer. Registering for spring classes tomorrow morning, assuming I don't sleep through it... Taught a good circus class with the middle school-ers today. I really love them. Otherwise, it's time for bed!

*Family Time

Had nice chats with Mom, Dad, Winnie, Barbara, and Grandma this weekend, as well as a family dinner with Pinkney and Laura (my NYC surrogate parents). SO GOOD! I'm glad that this whole pregnancy thing is making us all so happy and drawing us all together even further- such an exciting perk!

Got a little caught up on homework today, but must pack it in immediately with an exhaustion headache (even though the damn pregnancy exhaustion had me sleep in until 3:30 in the afternoon today, baring some minor mid-sleep snacking). Lance and Rozo are already asleep and cute as buttons. Here's a picture of them from my computer's crappy little snapshot function:

You can kind of see the dog sprawled on the loveseat in the background with her legs wide open; what a dork... Oh, and in case you're wondering, no- the bed isn't usually in the middle of the living room, smashed up against the couch. We just haven't have the time or manpower to move the old bed out of the bedroom yet, but this one is so comfortable we started sleeping on it in the living room in the mean time. All details I'm sure the world needed to hear.

Well, off to join them in sleepy time. But first, maybe some Doritos...

ps. I got excited about the snapshot function, so here's what it looks like to be pregnant with an exhaustion/tension headache:

Genius Test Results

Well, somewhat genius. I got my American History midterm back today. I got a 99 and the teacher told me I tied for the highest grade in a class of 100! Of course my ego is outraged that he took of a point on one of my answers, but egos can deal. There was a crushing blow to my ego today, in the form of my drama midterm... the first answer on the test went something like this: Sophocles was an ancient greek philosopher whose contribution to western society was unfortunately lost to preganacy brain... Genius I tell you! The test just went downhill from there. There's always next time.

Baby's First Book!

This kid is going to be literate as hell. Grandpa Tarbox sent Parker's first book (thanks Dad!) and it's happily waiting for him/her to pop out in June! Just wait until Parker can catch up with all the Harry Potter stuff!

Got A's on all the exams I've done so far. YAY! Let's hear it for paying attention in class, because this baby has turned my studying brain to mush.

Off to teach (or puke, whichever comes first).

*First Baby Picture!

Well, it's mostly a picture of my tummy inside out, but you can see the Baby between the two "+" signs... (Click the picture to enlarge it)

The doctor said everything looked fine. I'm supposed to take it easy for another week, but I don't have to stay in bed anymore. I got a lot of questions answered and I feel very safe.

Lance and Hubie picked up the super big bed today. I can't wait to give it a quick cleaning and have a grown-up bed. Yay!

Ok, after some food, MAYBE I'll do a little homework. I read 2 plays yesterday, but there's still a hell of a lot more reading and writing before thursday!

Bedrest Blows

I have to say that while the universe may be trying its damnedest to provide downtime for me to catchup on my homework, I am finding it extremely difficult to do anything but sleep, daydream about the baby, or grump. Why is it that when I'm busy, all I want in the world is time in bed and now that I have that, I just want to get up?!

Spoke with the on-call Dr. from the gyn office. Apparently it's normal for me to still be bleeding, but I have to stay in bed except for grabbing a glass of water or going to the bathroom. She even said no store trips. I'm really excited about the gyn appoint tomorrow with dr. simonson. Lance will get to see the baby and hopefully she will have a more exciting solution than bedrest to whatever my body is doing right now.

The dog is doing a good job keeping me company, hogging the bed and squashing my feet.

I'm having a hard time staying in today- I keep thinking about how many fancy costumes I wanted to make for the kids' recitals in january and how limited my teaching is going to be at circus class. I'm also a little worried about how involved I'm going to be capable to being with developing the script for the middle school drama class. I was really excited about that project and oh boy am i at the mercy of my body and my hormones. Apparently in about one or two months I'll get an energy surge, but until then, there's a lot of brain dead hanging out over here...

One of the pregnancy websites said to start taking pictures of my belly on a monthly basis. That seems both exciting, fun and horrifying at the same time. Why oh why did I gain 35 lbs since the wedding?!!! Ah well. I guess my body was just buckling down making things extra cozy over here for when the baby decided to come.

Blogs are weird because you're pretty much just talking to yourself. I hope that someday the baby will be interested in what it's mom was thinking while it was swimming around in her tummy.

What's in a Name?

OK. What do you think of Parker Elizabeth Tarbox Windish (girl) or Parker Elijah Tarbox Windish (boy)? Comments? Alternate Suggestions?

Oh the drama

Last night was exciting, resulting in a lovely check-in with the nice staff at Greenwich CT's hospital. Bottom line, Baby's fine (7 weeks and I got to see a beating heart on the untrasound!) and I'm in bedrest until I check in with my doctor. It turns out my old OBGYN takes my insurance after all, so Lance made me an appointment for monday at 1:45 with Dr. Simonson at Westcare Medical.

Had a nice slumber party at my dear friends' (and former boss) Pinkney and Laura's house last night. They're excited to be the baby's NYC grand-parents. Nice!

Lance is making a yummy dinner, having fought through the rain to bring it all home. We are very lucky over here.

Flakiness Ensues

Well, I was too nauseous to meet Tim for breakfast, which was pretty good since I had already had a plan to meet Theseus for a work breakfast which I had to cancel because I had a physical at Health Services up at school, which I had to cancel because I forgot that last week I said I would help out for a couple of hours at one of my former bookkeeping gigs. I sure am glad I spent so much money on a fancy phone with a calendar to keep my life organized...

Speaking of, 2 new things on the calendar: next tues @ 11am, 1st sonogram to determine how far along this little sucker actually is (and if it's in a tube or something) and then tues @ 1pm, apt. w/ psychopharmacologist specializing in pregnancy to see which is a bigger risk, keeping me on or taking me off my medication. Oh joy.

If anyone was wondering, the first apt with the OBGYN was fine. The staff was super friendly, the doctor very efficent, and it's in an annex building, so the office is small enough to feel safe. I like her just fine, so while I still want to investigate options (especially birthing), it's convenient that she is one of the few brooklyn providers to take my insurance and she is affiliated with the hospital at the end of our block. AND the exam room was a nice shade of light pink. Very important. If anyone is interested, the doctor's website is brooklyndocs.com and her name is Elsie Alvarez, MD.

Moving pretty fast getting prepared over here. Lance & Pahu are going to go get the fancy new bed from craigslist on fri am. I have some friends who are going to loan me maternity and newborn stuff, as well as a lot of advice. Now I just need to stop blogging and talking on the phone/daydreaming about the baby and do my damn homework.

1st Dr.'s Appointment

Ok. First OBGYN appointment with new provider, new insurance. Today @ 5:30, Dr. Elsie Alvarez. We can decide if we want to stick with her permanently after we get the initial pre-natal visit over with. I want some blood tests and sonograms!

Monday, October 22, 2007

Well it's confirmed...

Still have to go to the OBgyn and start that whole process, but SUNY Purchase's Health Services Nurse says the baby's on the way... Yahoo!

ACK!!!

the amount of kids in nyc seems to have expanded geometricly overnight. Now I can't look but I see a baby and each time I do, "ACK!!!" is all I can think (but in a good way).

Impluse Buy Much?!

Worst case scenario, we can resell this if we don't end up needing it. But it was only 40 bucks 2 blocks away on craig's list... Total insane early shopping, I know, especially with our front hallway being so clutter-free. But as I told my friend the other day, BUYING something makes it seem real!

Now I just need to get a doctor to do a blood test and confirm that I am in fact pregnant.

Old Website

I moved the old wedding website to fauxreal.org/ctlw, just in case anyone was looking for it. It hasn't been updated since the wedding, but some of the love stories are still nice to read...

Oh! But the WEDDING PICS are online at Howard Pyle Photography
and our Google Web Album. Hope you like them!

Holy shit.

We're having a baby.
